Hi, I'm Janice Bowles, a life fulfillment coach specializing in stress management and I help professionals recover from the effects of burnout and go on to create a deeply rewarding and meaningful life.

Burnout is more common today than ever before, it can affect anyone and happens not just from work stress, but also from the demands of your personal life.

My Story

During the 1980's I worked as a stewardess for British Airways. It was a career that spanned thirteen wonderful years. During that time, I learnt a lot about people, human behaviour and indeed about stress. It ignited my desire to learn more.

Recognising the need for managing stress and while working as a stewardess, I undertook qualifications in reflexology, remedial massage and aromatherapy. My colleagues were delighted to be my 'guinea pig' and enjoyed massage sessions during our stopovers by the pool!

Towards the end of my career with BA I set up my own massage therapy business and as the business grew, I made the decision to leave British Airways and focus full-time as a remedial therapist. It was quite a big step, giving up such a well-worn role, like an old familiar pair of comfy slippers, and not realizing at the time just how much we relate our work to our personal identity.

None-the-less I had my new role to focus on. Then, within a very short time and a skiing holiday later, life took another turn and I moved to France, living in that very ski resort in the French Alps. Then, just three weeks later came the devastating news that my father had passed away. 

The combination of so many personal life changes took its toll and I would struggle on and off with depression for many years to come. On the outside it appeared that I was coping, but on the inside I felt like I was dying.  The intense anger and grief was extremely painful and difficult to manage.

It was the craziest thing to be in such a beautiful environment having an otherwise idyllic life, yet feeling deeply unhappy and powerless. It was as if I wasn't really there, I became emotionally detached from people and myself. I would learn later that this is a protective measure when experiencing high anxiety.

It wasn't until someone pointed out to me that I was depressed that I realized something needed to change and after four years of trying to manage it I returned to the UK. Seeking ways to recover from the depression I embarked on a hypnotherapy diploma, initially to heal myself but I was so impressed that it became my next business.

I trained with The Atkinson-Ball College of Hypnotherapy and Hypnohealing and qualified with a diploma on the 14th April 1996. I'm also a member of the Corporation of Advanced Hypnotherapy (CAH).

Inspired by the positive results I had within myself and with my clients, I undertook further training on Stress Management and Depression. I studied the latest findings in neuroscience, which was rapidly gaining momentum in the realms of understanding the science of the mind. I also studied Gary Craig's 'Emotional Freedom Technique' EFT Tapping, which has become a popular and powerful tool for healing and qualified in 'Keirsey Temperament Theory'. 

It's important to me that 'walk my talk' and personally apply everything that I learn. Therefore, whenever I work with someone I can honestly have a deeper understanding of their needs.


Later, I provided group coaching and mentoring, which is another powerful transformational approach. I was invited to partake in an eighteen-month in-house training program for Barclays Bank managers with my ‘Mind-Power’ sessions, which I designed specifically for them. These sessions were subsequently rolled out for a year with The London Business School.

Life Coaching

Life coaching became a natural progression towards helping my clients achieve what they want in their personal and professional life. During my training with The Coaching Academy, I hired a coach to personally help me focus on my business and it was then that I truly understood the incredible value of coaching.

I Believe...

  • We are not meant to struggle in this life – although of course we do, it’s part of the human condition – instead, we are meant to flourish, to prosper and be happy. 

  • Most people are reactionary, and you only need listen to the media to witness this. It’s also becoming a blame society but in blame we strip away the important value of self-responsibility. These attitudes do us no favours and they also leave us weak and powerless.

  • No one is broken and no one needs’ fixing. We do however need to learn to love and accept ourselves more than we do and when we can develop a depth of self-awareness, we have a solid basis upon which to experience inner freedom. Then, no matter what life throws at you, you have the resilience and warmth of heart to sail through it.

  • Your mind is powerful, and its natural state is one of balance and peace – I help people find theirs.

  • We have much more autonomy over the direction of our lives than we may realise. Let’s go for it, I say! Let’s make this the best life we can and even though we may struggle at times, we’ll get through it, when we have the determination to do so.
